Dan V.
Private tutor in Melbourne, Australia
Education
NOT CURRENTLY TAKING STUDENTS Completed a four-year APAC-accredited, undergraduate psychology sequence at Swinburne University of Technology (including Honours in Psychology), attaining a First-Class Honours (H1). In addition, I am currently studying a Masters of Psychology (Clinical) in Melbourne, Australia.
Experience
Experience: Three years of tutoring psychology and behavioural statistics students (face-to-face, online). Past students of mine have attended various institutions, including: Swinburne University of Technology, University of Melbourne, Monash University (Campus, Online), Australian Catholic University, Deakin University, RMIT, Griffith University, Charles Sturt University, Charles Darwin University, University of Southern Queensland, Victoria University, SwinburneOnline, ACAP, and Geelong Grammar (Year 12 Psychology). I am located in Hawthorn, Victoria (10-15 minutes from the CBD). As a tutor, I can help students (both Undergraduate and Fourth-year) with a variety of tasks. Firstly, I can collaborate with you on structuring/planning for psychology lab reports and essays/reviews, so you're adequately prepared for your assessment(s). Secondly, I provide a proof-reading service. This service generally involves psychology lab reports and essays/critical review assessments. This process is sometimes challenging, because every student has a reasonably distinct way of writing and understanding of content. For instance, a 1000-word lab report by one student may take longer to correct than a 1000-word lab report by another student; as a guide, it takes between 60-90 minutes to proof-read 1k words. Please note: I do not write essays or lab reports for students, nor proof-read 'last-minute'. Importantly, whilst improving grades is inherent in this process, I cannot definitively improve your average to a H1 in one or two sessions (multiple factors are involved in achieving a H1). Thirdly, if you’re in a Fourth-Year program (Honours or Graduate Diploma), I can provide assistance towards your research thesis. Subjects I’m familiar with include: - Psychology 100/101 (Introductory subjects) - Cognition & Human Performance (Swinburne) - Analysis of Variance (Swinburne) - Multivariate Statistics (Swinburne) - Research Methods & Theory (Monash) - Research Design & Analysis (Monash) - Research Methods for Human Enquiry (UniMelb) - Advanced Design & Data Analysis (UniMelb) - Psychology Project A (Research Project) - Advanced Quantitative Methods (Swinburne) - Personality Psychology - Developmental Psychology - Adolescent Psychology - Positive Psychology - Abnormal Psychology (Psychopathology) - Social Psychology - Contemporary Psychology - Ethical & Professional Issues in Psychology - Counselling Psychology Lastly, I'm able to assist with statistical understanding, interpretation, and reporting in psychology, using SPSS. Statistical procedures and techniques I’m familiar with include: data cleaning and screening (diagnostics), correlation (Pearson, Spearman), T-tests, odds ratio/contingency table interpretation (chi-square), ANOVA/ANCOVA, Mixed Model ANOVA, MANOVA, Discriminant Functional Analysis, Linear Regression, Multiple Regression (mediation, moderation), Hierarchical Regression, Logistic Regression, Exploratory and Confirmatory Factory Analysis, Structural Equation Modelling, Path Analysis, and assumption testing for all techniques. Generally, I correspond with students over email. Alternatively, we can meet at Swinburne's Hawthorn campus (10-15 minutes from CBD via train to Glenferrie station).
