ExperienceI am currently a full-time high school teacher at a reputable Victorian public school, teaching English to Year 7, Year 8, Year 10 and Year 12. Having had these experiences have allowed me to familiarise myself with the English standards necessary in schools, and how I can improve individual students' abilities to attain these standards. Alongside my teaching career which also included Year 11 English and Literature, I have had an extensive history of tutoring and teaching students at variety ability levels, including EAL to support speaking and listening skills.
In terms of my qualifications, I graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Literature and Politics. I then pursued my teaching career at the University of Melbourne, completing a Master of Teaching.
My lesson structures for the middle school group (Year 7-9) will involve reading the
prescribed novel and working on school-based tasks. Should the student require extension tasks, then I will construct these resources to fit the students' needs.
For Year 10-12, the lessons will be focused on the school or VCE curriculum, devoting ample time to writing paragraphs, essays, and building the necessary skills to perform well in assessments. With the new change in the Year 12 English study design, I also feel apt to teach Senior year levels to prepare them for this.
For more information on my availability, please contact me via my email.
HobbiesI do consider myself a fun teacher to be around. I relate well to youths and do believe I have a knack for working with teenagers. Having been inspired by others to improve myself, I wish to do the same with my students. Only the students themselves will be the best driving force of motivation to success.
I absolutely love music, musicals and concerts of all types (90s pop, mainstream, classical, soundtracks, Disney, opera, rock, indie, jazz). I enjoy reading (of course!) but also have a strong passion for student leadership. I love working with young people and see the potentials in them.
