Private tutor in Melbourne, Australia

Education

I completed Year 12 at Canberra Girls Grammar School where I majored in English, Ancient History, Medieval History, Religion, and Philosophy and minored in Music and Maths. I then completed my Bachelor of Arts in Geography with First Class Honours at Melbourne University.

Experience

My Australian Tertiary Admission Ranking (ATAR) score was 99.00. At Canberra Girls' Grammar School, I earned the Religious Studies Prize as the highest-scoring student. I earned a Distinction in Flute at the Associate Trinity College London. I experience as a dramatic reading tutor at the Canberra Girls' Grammar School in 2014 where I provided hourly lessons to debating students on reading dramatically. This involved one-on-one lessons in which I determined each student's needs and helped them achieve their goals of performing at debating competitions. I was completely independent and determined the program for each of the students. In 2012, I was a tutor at Canberra's Debating Boot Camp where I was in charge of primary students (years 3-6). I taught a class of 15 students the fundamentals of debating. Having had the benefit of excellent tutors throughout my education, I understand the importance of a tutor who is able to connect with a student and understand their needs. I have the skills necessary to do this and to aid people in the educational process. For example, I love learning and I am able to pass on some of this joy and enthusiasm. Furthermore, I love tutoring because it provides the opportunity of giving in a rewarding way.

Hobbies

I am a country girl at heart, growing up in Yass, NSW. So I love hiking and travelling, and feel a sense of social responsibility, participating in various volunteer organisations. I spend a lot of time reading, and, as a child, created imaginary stories. This creativity remains with me - I love making things (such a beanies or dresses), and making music. I’ve expressed this with my flute, playing in music ensembles during school, and being part of a flute quartet based at the Melbourne Conservatory. More recently, I’ve decided to start learning the harp - there can never be too many ways to make music! I am loving living a city-life, and am so excited about all the opportunities it presents. For example, I am tremendously excited to be given the opportunity to play Peter Pan in our college play - I can’t wait! I also can’t get over the feeling of popping into town to see so many amazing plays and concerts! I’ve decided to act on my passion for dancing, and am taking classes on campus. Melbourne has also allowed me to meet so many interesting people of all ages - I love just having conversations with people and finding out about all different walks of life (something so much more apparent in a big city). So, while I can’t vouch for how other people view me, most tend to say I’m friendly, approachable, and energetic - attributes I certainly value, and would be excited to have! Hope to see you soon!
