Education

I am currently in my second year of a Bachelor of Arts at Monash University, completing a double major in Korean and Japanese studies. In my most recent result statement, I received a Grade Point Average of 3.5 (out of 4). I am also completing a Diploma of Chinese Studies and a minor in Literary Studies, as well as units in Linguistics.

Experience

I have some previous experience tutoring struggling students in late primary to year 9 in English through my previous high-school. It gives me a great sense of fulfilment to help students and see their progression and improvement. I have a passion for languages, which I wish to share with others who have an interest in learning. I taught myself a great deal of Korean before I commenced my university study and though I entered at a later stage, I had learned far ahead of the course level. So I want people interested in learning to know that it is not necessary to study your target language through an institution, but through offering tutoring services I want to save people the loneliness of studying alone. My speaking, listening and conversation skills have greatly improved since commencing Korean Studies at University. I can teach Korean to complete beginners or people with minimal knowledge of the language. I can also tutor in Units 3 and 4 VCE Psychology, which I completed accelerated in year 11 and received a study score of 43. I greatly enjoyed the subject and would love to share my knowledge with other students and help them to see how fascinating and applicable it can be to the real world. I am enthusiastic to help students achieve the best they can while also getting the most they can out of the subject in terms of enjoyment and its real applications to their life. I believe making things relatable and relevant is the most efficient way to learn and so seek to make my teaching as engaging and tailored to the students' interests as possible.

Hobbies

I love to explore and go on adventures, whether it’s wondering the city or trekking through the great outdoors. I spend much of my time practicing my Korean skills by immersing myself in the culture, watching K-drama and listing to Korean music (from K-pop to hip-hop to indie/rock). I also like to study Japanese and Mandarin and watch television shows and movies in these languages. I love cosplaying as my favourite anime characters. I also enjoy reading and creative writing, with a particular fascination for fantasy. Dancing is another huge part of my life. I participate in and occasionally teach Hip-hop, Urban and K-pop classes at university, as well as covering my favourite dances by Kpop idols in my spare time. I am also involved with the committee for the university dance club as a style representative for Hip-hop/Urban and K-pop. My other interests include painting, nutritious cooking and baking and working out at the Gym.
