I have a Bachelor of Arts in English and Italian Literature from the University of Warwick. I graduated with First Class Honours. I also have a Master of Arts in English and Comparative Literature from the University of Warwick, and I graduated with Distinction. I am a CELTA qualified ESL, EFL, and ELL teacher.
Experience
I am an experienced, enthusiastic, and patient English literature and language teacher. I take pride in getting to know my students and adapting my teaching to the way that they learn best. I am able to help students analyze a text by understanding how it came into being (the historical, social, and political context) and why the text is important. From a practical perspective, learning to analyse and talk about literature helps students to develop analytical and evaluative skills, the ability to build and articulate an argument, the ability to identify patterns and the ability to write critically. I really pride myself on my ability to engage students of all levels, ages and capabilities. As well as syllabus material, I have a huge knowledge of texts from all eras which I occasionally like to bring into the classroom to help demonstrate certain points. I am aware of the different ways in which we all learn, and like to cater my classes to the student's needs. I grew up in Oxford, England, where I taught literature and language for two years before moving to Australia. I am an enthusiastic English language teacher, dedicated to helping my students improve their proficiency and their confidence in all aspects of the English language. I have experience teaching everyone from school-aged children to corporate businesspeople. I can prepare students for IELTs, Cambridge English qualifications and many more. I can help students with conversations, writing, reading, listening, English for General Use, and Business English classes. As a freelance literary editor for magazines and newspapers, I also have a very keen eye for the impact of, and the rules behind, language and grammatical choices.

I am a freelance writer and editor, so I read voraciously: newspapers, magazines, poetry, short stories, novels, dictionaries, cookbooks, gift cards...whatever I can get my hands on! I have a real thirst for knowledge, so I like to read about everything from superstars to supernovas, Shakespeare scenes to beauty queens, adventure sports to delicious tortes, mathematics to acrobatics, and more! I also love going to the theatre, writing poetry, travelling, cooking and eating.
