Dr. Andy W.
Private tutor in Melbourne, Australia
Education
I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with First Class Honours from Monash University in 2011 and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the same institution in 2015. From there, I held a postdoctoral research position at Old Dominion University (ODU - Virginia, USA) between 2015 - 2018.
Experience
I like to teach because it allows me to develop better teaching skills in addition to passing down the knowledge that I have accumulated to younger generations. I worked as a TA and taught VCE Chemistry while I was pursuing my Ph.D. The units I taught ranged from first-year to third-year chemistry, including Chemistry I, Chemistry II, Analytical Chemistry, and Advanced Physical Chemistry. I have also given lectures at Old Dominion University for a range of postgraduate subjects, including spectroscopy, atmospheric chemistry, and exoplanets. Furthermore, I completed a training program entitled "Preparing Future Faculty" at ODU aimed at developing the necessary skills to effectively teach and deliver undergraduate material in classroom environments.

Hobbies
My hobbies primarily revolve around teaching and research. I like to teach because it allows me to develop better teaching skills in addition to passing down the knowledge that I have accumulated to the younger generations. For my research, I specialise in FTIR spectroscopy with an emphasis on measuring and analysing data of molecules that are found in Earth's atmosphere and/or different astrochemical environments.
