Private tutor in Melbourne, Australia

Education

I received my Master Of Teaching from the University of Melbourne in 2011, where I majored in VCE biology, general science (6-10), and mathematics (7-9). I received my graduate diploma in marine hatcheries management from Challenger TAFE in Fremantle. I received my Bachelor of Applied Science in Fisheries and Marine Environment from the Australian Maritime College, in Launceston.

Experience

Hi there. I have been tutoring and working as a teacher for 7 years. Previous to this, I lectured in an aquaculture degree program at NMIT in Epping. I tutor because I love being able to assist people and mentor them to succeed in their chosen interests. I also love helping and developing students in preparation for their 'VCE experience'. There's a lot more to succeeding in education than just learning the content. I currently work full time as a teacher of VCE biology, general science, algorithms and coding, and reading and comprehension. I am also able to teach years 6-8 mathematics and have an excellent knowledge of study skills and techniques, effective summarising, and mentoring for life, health communication, and organisation - all essential skills to be able to succeed in today's complex world. As a current teacher of algorithms and coding, I also offer tuition for students from years 4 onwards, who wish to explore the beginnings of computer coding and programming, makerspace activities, and robotics. Given the effects of automation on employment over the next few years, this is a highly essential skill for your child to have in their toolbox, if they are to compete in the future workforce. Algorithms and coding as a subject, have also become part of the Victorian Curriculum this year. I am also the House Coordinator at the school where I work, and have a strong ethic and focus on student wellbeing as a priority, as this is essential for a successful and happy student. I am trained as a digital coach and have a wide scope of knowledge regarding the meaningful use of digital technology and resources to enhance learning and student engagement.
