Education

I'm currently a 3rd-year student at the University of Melbourne, majoring in statistics.

Experience

I do not have ten years of experience in tutoring, but it's definitely enough that I can say I'm confident in quickly spotting the problems and developing optimal teaching strategies to assist the students. I love to teach my students how to learn on their own, and how to develop a self-sustaining learning habit. So what I teach is not just how to solve some problems, not even just sharing my learning strategies, but also trying to intrigue the student to think independently based on the skills/knowledge they've already learned. I was educated in China and Singapore for academic study before university and I did Cambridge A-Level exams and scored A*A*A for chemistry, mathematics, and physics. I am confident with the teaching of math, chemistry, and Mandarin Chinese. I love math! I am one of those math-lovers that hate dullness and I'm so addicted to tricks, developing tricks, and digging the joy out of things I learn. So I'm confident that my teaching can be of great practicality and fun. For Mandarin, I'm from Qingdao(heard of Qingdao Beer? It's a big city in-between Beijing and Shanghai) and my Chinese pronunciation and accent are both pretty standard. I have also achieved H1 with 1st class honours in my phonetics study at university, so I'm good at correcting pronunciation, tones, etc. My use of words is of high accuracy. I am good at categorizing difficult grammar into groups of templates that students can easily apply. I have a mania for chemistry reaction mechanisms, they appear as videos in my head, which I find to be greatly helpful, and I can share this with my students who find chemical reactions difficult.

Hobbies

I'd say I'm a person with some diversity, I think it's always good to explore. I've been an INTP-A for several years and enjoyed it. I'm a very independent person and love to solve things by myself before I have to ask for help. This is greatly beneficial and I wish to teach my students this habit, too. In the realm of personal interests, I've read books in Philosophy, Psychology, Architecture( I went "so far" with this that as a science student I taught myself some contents and got offers from a few top Architecture schools in the UK), etc. alongside with novels, and fictions. I've traveled to many countries by myself. I've got a certificate for Level2 in Wine study with WSET. I'm a beginner in Italiano. :)
