I earned a Bachelor of Biomedicine at Monash University in 2018 and received my Doctor of Medicine with honours from the University of Melbourne in 2021. I was also an interview assessor for Melbourne Medical School in 2021.
Experience
My name is Adrian and I am a trained interview coach, 2021 MMI Assessor for Melbourne Medical School and first-year doctor at Northern Health. I have been tutoring students privately for the MMI for over 5 years. The MMI's can seem overwhelming, and having a trusted source of feedback can offer peace of mind, and assist you in directing your efforts towards where they are needed most. Having assessed interviewer's responses in 2021 and received offers myself from both Monash and Melbourne medical schools, I can provide advice relevant to both admission pathways (including Monash's infamous Situational Judgement Test). Sessions are structured according to the amount of time remaining until interviews and the earlier you start, the more we can cover (4-5 months out is ideal). Ideally, we would have one session to run through answer structure, and subsequent sessions would focus on practice, feedback and refinement. While the biggest determinant of how you fare in the MMI is you, the MMI requires a different approach compared to the other criteria assessed by medical schools. Like sitting your probationary driving test, when it comes to the MMI - even the most talented candidates still require an instructor to give them a small (but specific) nudge in the right direction to get them across the finish line!
