Lecturer in Information Systems for 25 years, now retired. See http://www.ict.swin.edu.au/personal/peden/. My main approach has been to narrow the gap between theory and practice, specifically to find real world examples to illustrate theoretical principles, and analyze and solve real world problems using theoretical elements. Students who have mastered these complementary ways of thinking (theory and practice) then have the confidence to deal with new problems as professionals. My reaching method has been based on diagnosis of students' learning difficulties by critical analysis of their written responses to questions.
