Experience

Working as a professional photographer for over 17 years has allowed me to build an incredibly diverse portfolio. I have shot for dozens of major Australian and international organisations, including Fairfax Media, PostSecret, Bosch, the Queensland University of Technology, the Royal College of Nursing Australia, University of Canberra, and many more. I have exhibited my work at the Centre for Contemporary Photography, Yarra Sculpture Gallery, Red Earth Gallery, Melbourne Pavillion, and many more. I have also had my work published in Melbourne Times Weekly, Australian Financial Review, Capital Magazine, and twenty600 Magazine. Here are some fancy awards I've received: • 2021 AIPP Silver Lining Awards: Art & Science category - semi-finalist • 2019 Australasia's Emerging Photographer of the Year: Art category - top 10 • 2019 Australia's Emerging Photographer of the Year: B/W category - high commendation • 2018 Australian Photography Awards: student category - honourable mention • 2017 Australia's Top Emerging Photographer: Art category - commended • 2016 Australian Institute of Professional Photography. VPPY: portrait category - silver • 2016 Australian Institute of Professional Photography. Illustrative category - silver • 2016 Australian Photography Awards: student category - 6th place My love of photography eventually led me to tutoring after I began mentoring a number of aspiring photographers, which I found immensely rewarding. Having worked with students of varying ages and experience, I understand the importance of tailoring my tutoring to meet each individual’s needs and learning style. I work in 2-hour sessions, as this gives us time to dedicate to a range of activities such as delivering new information, photography exercises, reviewing your images, and covering any particular areas you may want to focus on. My lesson plans cover a broad range of topics, including: • Introduction to digital SLRs and lenses • Creative camera techniques • Working in a digital environment • Camera craft • Introduction to Photoshop • Image design principles • Tonal value and colour • Working with natural light • Introduction to flash • Genre • Building your folio • Printing • Photography projects • Post-production … and much, much more So whether you’re looking for a career change, need help with your studies, or just want to take better photos, let me help you take your photography to the next level.
