Education
I am currently a junior doctor working at St Vincent's Hospital having recently completed a postgraduate Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Notre Dame. In 2008 I completed an honours year at the University of Melbourne in the department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Prior to this, I completed my Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne. I graduated in 2007 with majors in anatomy and physiology and with minors in pathology, immunology and pharmacology.
Experience
During my honours year I demonstrated and tutored anatomy at the University of Melbourne. Over the years I have had several jobs tutoring both school and university students in all sciences, with the exception of physics. Since beginning medicine, I have been involved in weekly tutoring sessions with my colleagues. We all teach one new topic to each other, it has been a great way to gain additional teaching skills and an even better way to learn. I have been fortunate with my current university. They frequently run leadership and communication workshops which I have been actively involved. My passion for teaching has two components. The first is the pleasure I get when a student can finally understand a difficult concept. The second is because I believe that you don't truly know something until you have taught it and that means I am constantly learning too.
