Tina G.
Private tutor in Melbourne, Australia
Education
I earned my Master's Degree in Political Science (specializing in Indigenous Politics) from the University of Hawaii. As part of this program I successfully defended my thesis work in urban theory and indigenous politics. I graduated with high distinction and was the recipient of the Political Science Achievement Award. Prior to that, I completed my BA in Political Science at the University of Hawaii. I was honored as a Congressional Fellow and worked for a semester in the United States Senate. I also studied as a Macaulay Honors Scholar at the City University of New York.
Experience
I am currently working as a tutor/teaching assistant at the University of Melbourne, teaching a graduate class in the School of Social and Political Sciences. I also work regularly as a freelance writer/journalist covering social and political issues. My work has been published in books and magazines back home in Hawaii, but also in international publications from places as far away as France. I enjoy teaching students in the Social Sciences, but I also love sharing the knowledge that I have gained through my professional experience as a writer. I see many bright students struggle because they have not been taught to write effectively or to read efficiently as they progress in their academic careers. Honing your academic reading and writing skills can bring enormous improvements to your performance in a wide range of subjects.
