Experience
After completing my Bachelor of Science (with Honours) in 2001, I completed my PhD in 2006. My thesis investigated the role of oxidation in skeletal muscle function. I then completed my postdoctoral training at the University of Melbourne, where my interest in Medical Physiology began. I have published a number of Medical Physiology projects in top-ranking journals including Nature, Molecular Biology of the Cell and Diabetes. In 2010, I accepted a teaching and research position at La Trobe University, and I currently teach physiology as part of a number of Bachelor degrees including Health Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Nutrition, Dietetics, Physiotherapy and Nursing. I love incorporating my passion for research into my teaching and love telling students about the impact of current ground-breaking research worldwide. Teaching Physiology is not the reason I enjoy teaching. I believe that science and in particular Biology is the most important subject in the world. Opening the eyes of students to the wonders of Biology, what it is, how it works, and why it’s there is the reason why I love teaching.
