Hello, My name is Tom Neal-Williams, and I am currently a third year biomedicine student at the University of Melbourne. I currently tutor many students in both Maths and Science from Year 9 up to VCE level, and in all cases I have managed to produce an improvement in marks. I've done basic teaching courses through both my university and GTAC, which I strongly believe has helped me to better teach students and convey the difficult ideas that can be encountered, particularly in the world of science. In terms of my own academic experience, I excelled at VCE and am maintaining an excellent GPA throughout university. This is in no small part due to a large collection of resources that I have gathered over the years, which I freely share with my students. This is in addition to doing very well in both the UMAT and the GAMSAT, two medical school entry exams. One thing that I try hard to instill in my students is a sense of dedication. Even the best tutor in the world is only there for an hour or two a week, so in order to be effective the tutee needs to take responsibility for their marks and build off what we look at in our sessions. To try and make this process easier I make a point of staying very close to my phone and emails if a student should have a question that they would like answering. One final note, I am well aware that tutors and students have to be matched so they work well together. As such, if you get in contact with me our first session will be a 'trial period' of such, to make sure that your son or daughter gets on well with me and that everything runs smoothly. Hobbies
As the saying goes, all work and no play makes Jack a very dull boy. As such, outside of the academic world I enjoy music, particularly classical (even if it is a bit nerdy), and play a few instruments. I enjoy outdoor activities such as camping, rock climbing, and SCUBA diving, and will leap at a chance to do a more adventurous activity such as skydiving. Although I'm not heavily into sport, I like it, formerly being part of my school's fencing squad and regularly playing competitive dodge ball with friends from University.
