Education

I graduated from Assumption College Kilmore in 2011 as the dux of my year level with an ATAR score of 96.75. I then completed my Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne, majoring in classics and archaeology and minoring in Italian. In the final year of this degree I received a number of scholarships to undertake an intensive subject in Italy. I graduated from this degree in 2014 with a H1 average of 81.625 across the three-year course. In 2015 I then went on to complete my honours year in ancient world studies at the University of Melbourne, specialising in Roman Republican religion and politics. I received a grade of 90 for my thesis and a H1 average of 90.125 across the course. Finally, I completed my Master of Art Curatorship at the University of Melbourne last year in 2017. I graduated from this course with a H1 average of 86.750 and a spot on the Dean’s Honours List for the Faculty of Arts for outstanding academic excellence.

Experience

I tutored a Year 12 student in 2012 in the VCE subjects Further Mathematics, Biology and English. I helped her achieve a great ATAR score in the high 80s which allowed her to get into her first preference for university, all this despite her missing many classes throughout the year due to personal issues. It was a very rewarding experience; I developed a close friendship with the student, saw her confidence and knowledge grow, and I was very proud to help her achieve the results she wanted but thought were unattainable. I would love the opportunity to help students achieve similar goals. During university, I undertook a number of education subjects that helped me develop a number of skills in tutoring, such as effective ways to teach, communicate and support students. Therefore I believe that I have both the educational background and practical experience to continue successful tutoring in the future.

Hobbies

As you can probably tell from my studies, I love ancient history and archaeology. My key area of interest is Roman religion and politics. I also am deeply interested in cultural material from the past and preserving this for the future. Given this, I love travelling, reading, researching and visiting museums. My dream job would be to work as an archaeologist and/or in a museum. In Italy, preferably! I also have a passion for English and writing, and I think that strong literacy and communication skills are essential in every career path, and should be developed and strengthened while in school for use in the future.
