I have a bachelor's degree in Russian from Lille 3 University in France, where I also earned a bachelor's degree in social science. I also have a DAEFLE (Diploma of French teaching as a foreign language proficiency), from the French Alliance of Paris and CNED, and a master's degree in public policy and human development from United Nations University in The Netherlands.
Experience
As a teacher of the French language and culture, I have taught private classes and worked as a specialized educator in an orphanage. I've also taught French to refugees at the French Cultural Centre in Syria, and was a project manager in linguistics and pedagogy. I am Parisian by birth; the opportunity to pass knowledge on to others and share my language and culture is a passion. When tutoring, I include a variety of tools to coach and motivate. Lessons include listening to native French, exercises in grammar, and a personalized approach to meeting your goals in speaking and writing in French. Whenever you don't understand an idea or point, you can ask me at any time. I can try many ways to motivate you in learning, so no goal is left untouched.

Hello everyone ! First of all, thank you for your interest in French and French culture. It’s always a pleasure to be able to pass on knowledge and to share one’s own language and culture ! My name is Roxane and I am Parisian by birth. I started to teach French in 2005 and have experience teaching in China, Syria, Russia, Peru as well as in France. I have had students from all ages (from 7 to 67 years-old) and all levels (from A1 to C2). I have worked in schools, languages institutes, universities, French Alliances and French Cultural Centres as well as at home in private classes. I’ve learnt a lot from my various experiences in different countries and with very different students. I’ve learnt how to get adapt to my students regarding their mother tongue, their culture, customs and goals. I have an academic background in teaching French even graduating in 2010 from the French Alliance of Paris in teaching French As a Foreign Language (DAEFLE). I have also passed the accreditation for the DELF, DALF and TCF exams at the French Alliance of Kazan in 2015. I myself have learned languages such as English, Russian, Chinese, Spanish and Arabic among others, and this is actually very helpful for me as a teacher. Switching from teacher to student and from student to teacher helps me understand student’s needs and how to teach better (but also how to be a better student as well !). During my teaching experience, I have noticed as a teacher but also as a language learner that the most difficult was discipline, self-motivation and organisation. Quite often you want to learn a language but you find yourself giving up because it’s too hard or alone you cannot find the motivation nor the tools to improve and go further. This is why I offer a program that includes coaching. I will be there to motivate you, to make sure you follow the program and you are getting closer to your goals. The idea is that each minute you are spending with me has to be profitable for you. Everything you can do alone, you will do at home. Everything you actually need a teacher for, we will do together during the class with me (talking and interacting in French, listening to native French, asking questions about grammar or anything else that is not clear for you etc.). I offer you a program that is close to what is called “flipped classroom”. Together, we will get to know what you goals are. Once I understand your needs, I will create for you your personalized program adapted to your objectives. I will then give you a base to study from by yourself, especially grammar, vocabulary and writing. You will have homework to do either in self-correcting either you will have to send it to me for correction. In that case, every time we will have a class, we will not waste time with information you could get by yourself, and you will be able to 1) ask me questions after having studied a subject and 2) directly practise what you just have learnt. This is when you use new vocabulary and grammar structure while assimilating them. Long story short, every passive part of learning a language you will to do it home alone (but with my support and according to a very well defined program) and the active part, you will do it with me. That way, you learn much faster and deeper. Don’t worry, I will be there to motivate you and make sure you are updated. This is the coaching part (be careful, I can be tough sometimes ;-)). For each class of 55 minutes you will get from me a report of what we have done during our class (new vocabulary, examples, grammar content and advices). You will have to give me a written work that I will correct for the next class with annotations and advice (to avoid wasting time during the class, but of course, after reading my correction. If there are still some points you don’t understand, you can ask me during the class). You will be able to ask up to three short questions between two classes if needed. Everything is thought through to avoid losing precious time during the class and so that every minute spent with me are as useful as possible.
