I have multiple qualifications from the University of Melbourne, including a Bachelor of Arts, Grad Dip in Education, Grad Cert in Philosophy and a Master of Education in Pedagogy and Assessment. I am currently completing my Phd in the Philosophy of Education. I have extensive knowledge of current pedagogical approaches as well as the specific requirements to negotiate the logistics of VCE.

Experience

I am an experienced teacher of VCE English and Philosophy at an Independent Secondary School in Melbourne. I am a VCAA Examiner for both VCE English and Philosophy, including Examiner for the most recent English Study Design (2024 onwards) and therefore know what is expected for examination writing. I have worked as a tutor at St Hilda's College, Melbourne University, and the Melbourne Graduate School of Education. I have taught VCE English and Philosophy for 15 years and have tutored many students as well as university students seeking assistance with essay writing. Having worked as a VCAA Examiner for both subjects I am well aware of what is required in student work. The students I teach regularly achieve scores of 40 or above in both English and Philosophy. My style is friendly but firm, and I aim for students to produce work and regularly write in order to improve. I can help students not only with their work but in managing their organization and stress. For my Philosophy students, I can provide a range of original resources to assist them in understanding the complex texts they need to study which they will not find elsewhere. I can assist university students in structuring their work so that their writing is clear and they are completing tasks accurately. I now tutor online due to my commitments and the need for flexibility for both my students and me and to avoid long commutes. I have found that academic results are not impacted by this mode of working.
