Education

University of Melbourne; Bachelor of Science (Degree with Honours (H1)) Majoring in Pathology Doctor of Dental Surgery (Class of 2019)

Experience

About me: I am a current Doctor of Dental Surgery student at the University of Melbourne, having previously completed my Bachelors of Science (majoring in Pathology) at the same university. To gain further insight into research and pathology, I undertook an Honours year completing a thesis (H1) on S.pneumoniae. With the conclusion of my Bachelors, I had the fortune of publishing research articles in a journal as well as compiling a chapter in a text book. Why I'm here: My primary interest is to confer my experience in writing in Section II of the GAMSAT to prospective applicants. Keenly interested in writing, I have tried a multitude of approaches and methods to Section II and achieved a score of 83 in this section, a 14 point improvement over my previous score. Through this, I have distilled what works and what does not for this section, as well as dispelling many myths that have circulated around its approach and preparation. I do not believe in 'secrets' or 'shortcuts' that have been touted, at the very least for this section. Instead I hope to assist students to refine their approach to preparation and to ready them to a state that would make section II, often the most daunting section, as manageable as possible. What I am providing: A program that- 1. Addresses common pitfalls in writing 2. Provides relevant readings 3. Augments already established skills and introducing new skills 4. Dispels common myths about GAMSAT Section II 5. Extensive exam preparation, With the passing of the March 2018 GAMSAT, we saw some excellent SII results with students achieving ≥70 on their first attempt, with a student exceeding his already excellent prior score to achieve an 88. As a note to any students contemplating tuition, it is generally recommended that a minimum of 2-3 months of preparation is required before the exam.
