Education
I am currently about to complete my final year of a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Melbourne. I am doing a double major in Italian and Criminology. I am hoping to go on to study law once I have completed my Bachelor at the University of Melbourne. In VCE I studied chemistry, mathematical methods, italian, literature, global politics and english.
Experience
I have worked as a tutor at the Ivanhoe Kumon over a two year period. In that position I was tutoring students from the age of five to 18 in mathematics and english. I have done private tutoring to students undertaking year 10 level mathematics as well as students who were studying year 11 and 12 English. I have volunteered as a tutor for a student in year 11 in which I tutored in all subjects and helped the student with guidance of extracurricular activities, including finding work. I am particularly interested in tutoring Italian. In VCE I received an Italian score of 48. I am proficient with all the exams at a VCE level, am fluent in Italian and have a broad knowledge of Italian culture (historical and modern). I am half Italian and have studied and lived in Italy for periods of time throughout my life. I am currently about to commence level 9 italian at university which includes writing complex essays and doing literary analysis. I received a high achievers award for my Italian in VCE and I also was awarded a scholarship to study in Italian abroad, which I completed in 2016. In regards to italian tutoring I believe it is really important for students to gain access to resources that will help their Italian skills but are also tailored to suit their interests. For instance particular music, films and reading materials can be found which are specific to a students personal taste. I am willing, as a tutor, to partake in excursions around Melbourne, for instance to the Italian Museum or to see plays or films that are italian. I believe that as a 21 year old, I have a recent and thorough knowledge of exams and therefore I know how to tailor my classes to being useful to increasing a students capabilities specific to what an exam requires.
