Education
I have a Masters degree in Music Therapy from the University of Melbourne, and hold undergraduate bachelor degrees in Arts, with a major in German studies, and a minor in psychology, as well as Music, with a major in classical piano performance, and a minor in musicology. I also hold my Associate Diploma in piano. My Year 12 University Entrance score (completed at Narrabundah College in Canberra in 2006) was 97.95
Experience
I have tutored English previously, and currently teach piano and music theory. I feel well equipped to teach psychology and social sciences. My approach to tutoring and teaching is to support students to engage with their subject matter on terms that are meaningful to them. I am warm, supportive and highly attentive to detail. I am flexible to approach problems and goals in a variety of ways. I am passionate about helping students to develop good study habits and study plans, to minimise stress during high-intensity periods, and to maximise their learning of considerable amounts of information. I believe in developing a depth of understanding rather than rote-learnt, working-memory level understanding only. I am patient and personable, and make sure I check in regularly with the student and their parents to ensure their goals are being met.
