Private tutor in Melbourne, Australia

Education

I am a first-year medical student at the University of Melbourne. Last year I completed a Bachelor of Biomedicine at the University of Melbourne, majoring in Microbiology and Immunology. I achieved First Class Honours in all subjects. I completed VCE in 2013 with a 99.55 ATAR. I received a full score (50) for Biology and was awarded the Premier's Award for top student in the state for Biology.

Experience

I have been tutoring since 2013 in VCE Biology and Year 7-9 Maths. I have helped students go from just passing their SACs to receiving 'very highs' at the end of the year. I have helped multiple students achieve over 40 in VCE Biology. I have also coordinated the Biology program for the Student Welfare Outreach Team (SWOT) at the Melbourne University Health Initiative. This program provides free tutorials, lectures, and revision sessions to VCE students from underrepresented schools. As coordinator, I have organized and taught tutorials, written and presented lectures, and trained other volunteers. I have also worked for the Engage Education Foundation, writing and presenting intensive seminars for Biology, and as a video presenter for various VCE subjects. I find tutoring incredibly rewarding. I love being able to pass knowledge on to younger students and to watch them gain confidence and achieve their goals.

Hobbies

I am located in Williamstown but am happy to meet up at the State Library in the city, or at Melbourne Uni. When I was young, I read every one of Dr. Karl's books and decided I wanted to be like him - a science communicator. I'm now studying medicine and cannot wait to become a doctor, but I've never been able to shake this dream entirely. So in my spare time, I write articles for the student magazine, Farrago, and for science blogs, to share the wonderful world of science with as many people as possible. I also enjoy running, swimming, and yoga - it keeps me sane when there's a lot of study to do!
