Emma H.
Private tutor in Melbourne, Australia
Education
I am currently studying to earn a bachelor's degree in music from the University of Melbourne.
Experience
I was a volunteer tutor during my 11th and 12th-grade years. During this time, I tutored primary school students, focusing on comprehension, literacy, and numeracy. For the last 3 years, I have volunteered as a violin tutor at a primary school in Broadmeadows with less fortunate children who wanted to learn music. I really like teaching and tutoring a range of subjects and skills as it is gratifying to see positive changes in the student's grades - which also impacts their mentality towards school and learning. As a part of the IB, I studied three subjects at standard level, including mathematics, French, and biology, and three higher-level subjects, including English literature, history, and music. Additionally, I studied Theory of Knowledge, a philosophy-based subject that enriched the way I researched, processed, and analyzed information extending to all my other study subjects. As part of the IB, I was also required to write a 4,000-word essay on a topic of my choosing, and complete 150 hours of creative, action, and service hours.
