Education

I completed degrees in physics and mathematics from The University of Melbourne. I also completed the Advanced Physics Subject Stream. Before this, I achieved an ATAR of 99.15 while studying math methods, specialist maths, physics, chemistry, English, and drama in my senior year.

Experience

I have been formally tutoring since March 2017 through a Melbourne tutoring company. However, from 2015 to 2016, I informally tutored as a resident in Brisbane Grammar School's Boarding House. Through my tutoring experience, I have learned that it is crucial to be passionate about your teaching subjects. Since the age of 10, I have been passionate about physics and mathematics. I attended two selective events that furthered my passions of physics and math, including The National Youth Science Forum and The London International Youth Science Forum. Science has been the driving force of my aspirations. In recent years, I have developed the skill of communicating and sharing this passion by receiving my professional certificate in communication skills from the Trinity College of London. The skill that I believe sets me apart as a tutor is getting students excited and passionate about what they are learning. Once the student reaches this level, they are much more eager to learn and perform better.

Hobbies

I strongly enjoy theatre acting as a means to enjoy myself and develop my communication skills. In addition, reading is an integral part of my day. I mostly enjoy non-fiction but will make exceptions for some great fictions! However, allow me to return to science and mentoring. For the last two years of school, I lived in a boarding house. Here I learnt to love the fulfilment gained by mentoring. One night, as I was preparing to sleep, a grade 7 boy ran into my room crying. A bit shocked, I comforted him and asked him what was wrong. The cause of his distress was because he believed he was going to fail his chemistry test. Over the next few days, I spent an hour each night working through his chemistry content and questions with him. By the end, he was enjoying it, could see the beauty of chemistry and had vastly improved. That transformation of students is something I cherish.
